Back in July, we started making it easier for travelers to stay in Airbnb spaces during business trips around the world. We introduced Business Travel on Airbnb to cater to business travelers looking to rent unique, local accommodations for any budget. Our business travel program enables employees to search and book accommodations while streamlining their expense process, and we are pleased to have more than 60 companies – including Sixt and Vox Media – participating already.
Jessenia Chavez from Sixt Car Rental told us, “I have gotten great reviews about the locations we have stayed at so far. It has been especially useful for our employees who are permanently relocating as it gives them a better sense of the city they are moving into.”
Graig Mansfield from Vox Media shared, “We have decided to partner with Airbnb as a supplemental option to our travel management service as a way to widen our options, and thus our productivity while on the road. Being afforded the ability to keep entire teams together in single homes/apartments can sometimes be a great advantage over separate hotel rooms, especially in coordinating logistics. Other times it’s simply a more affordable way to travel. We have found that there’s almost always some advantage to utilizing Airbnb over conventional travel accommodations.”
We’re seeing more and more business travelers wanting to redefine the business trip with local accommodations – whether looking for convenient proximity to meetings, a larger house for team offsites, access to a full kitchen, or a homier space to shake the workaday doldrums.
We also announced a partnership with Concur, the world’s leading provider of spend management solutions and services, to enable business travelers to use Concur’s TripLink service to book directly on Airbnb while having their expense reports and itineraries automatically pre-populated in Concur. Additionally, TripLink broaden’s Airbnb Business Travel availability to the UK, and Australia, with more countries in Europe coming in early 2015.
As of today, Airbnb’s integration with TripLink is complete and now available to all companies using Concur’s TripLink business travel services. Now, companies can take advantage of the variety of homes that only Airbnb can offer in cities around the world. Travel managers will now have complete visibility into itineraries and expenses and employees have the flexibility to book Airbnb within their corporate travel policy while avoiding the onerous process of post-trip paperwork.
The next time you schedule a business trip, try looking for an Airbnb that lets you live like a local while earning that paycheck.
