Cooking during an Airbnb Experience allows guests to immerse themselves in the culinary world and enables you to share your passion for food. When preparing food during an experience, we recommend you and your guests follow general best practices around food safety. All Cooking Experiences must comply with Airbnb’s Guidelines for Safe Food Handling, developed based on PAHO/WHO’s Five Keys to Safer Food program.
- Keep things clean
- Separate raw and cooked foods
- Cook food thoroughly
- Keep food at safe temperatures
- Use safe water and quality raw ingredients
Please check out the 5 Keys to Safer Food as demonstrated by Social Impact Cooking Host, Refettorio Gastromotiva, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The organization is a social gastronomy project founded by world renowned chefs and, through their programs, serves free dinners to vulnerable people, fights food waste and promotes the education of vulnerable youth.
Reffettorio Gastromotiva’s experience, A Feast to the Heart, allows experience guests to partner with chefs to prepare a special meal for the day – a banquet with ingredients that would otherwise go to waste — for 90 members of the local community in need of a warm meal.
