Our very own, Ayni and Karishma take on Miami’s neighborhoods, discover hidden gems, and local specialties to get the scoop on the sights, sounds, and tastes of Miami that make it magical.

View from the pool at our Gorgeous Loft in Downtown

Our trip started in a lovely loft downtown where our host Jessica F. gave us an overview of the city’s layout and the much needed directions to the rooftop pool. Some of the highlights of this hood include live shows at Grand Central, amazing Peruvian cuisine from Ceviche 105, and gorgeous views from the waterfront.

We held our first big Miami Meet & Greet at the popular happy hour spot, Novecento in the Brickell neighborhood. Airbnb hosts and travelers gathered around sharing stories and experiences while sipping mojitos and snacking on empanadas.

Ceviche 105

Morning time means coffee time, so after a quick dip we headed straight to the highly recommended Panther Coffee, a gem in the burgeoning Wynwood Arts District. I suggest taking your cup in hand and checking out the impressive Wynwood Walls down the street, featuring murals from international artists, and if you’re lucky, catch a piece in progress.

Wynwood Arts District

We were ecstatic to have discovered the perfect loftfrom which to explore the Wynwood and neighboring Design District’s street art, shops, and galleries. Its proximity to Jimmy’z(in the same building) made it even easier to order their amazing mofongo at a craving’s notice.

The Little Haiti Community Garden

We were also lucky enough to meet with local artist Jen Stark, who gave a sneak peek of her piece for next year’s Smithsonian 40 under 40: Craft Futures exhibition. While wandering and taking in Little Haiti, make sure to stop by Sweat Recordsand the Little Haiti Community Garden where you can say hello to garden coordinator and host Tamara.

No trip to Miami is complete without some time in South Beach, and thanks to tips from our local guide and Superhost Steve M. we didn’t miss a beat. Prepping and pre-partying with bubbly and berries at our Modern Ocean Dream Loft  was a perfect start to the night, one that unavoidably goes late due to Miami’s nightlife closing up shop when birds start chirping and see first light of day.
