In more great news from China, we’ve announced a new partnership with the Shanghai to set up a close cooperation to support innovation and entrepreneurship in the city.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed between Airbnb and the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Administration’s Expo Area Bureau, we will collaborate to provide experience sharing seminars to startups in the area, as well as host sessions to discuss entrepreneurship and trends in the sharing economy.
A part of the MoU, the parties agree to:
- Promote Shanghai’s unique accommodations through our global platform
- Work with the Shanghai Pudong to provide experience sharing seminars to startups
- Promote Shanghai’s culture to travelers from around the world
“Pudong is the cultural epicentre of Shanghai, and we’re thrilled to support the sharing economy in the city and allow hosts to open up their doors to visitors from China and around the world,” said Nate Blecharczyk, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Airbnb.
The MoU follows recent MoUs signed in Shenzhen, Chongqing and Beijing, and highlights our continued efforts to support cities that are looking to boost tourism and develop the sharing economy.
