Last week, Airbnb team members from around the globe gathered together for our second annual meetup in San Francisco. To conclude a wonderful week, Airbnb partnered with HandsOn Bay Area, The Tenderloin Housing Clinic and the San Francisco Public Library to show our gratitude and give back to our amazing host city.
On Saturday, dozens of employees and local Airbnb hosts gathered at our headquarters for a special project to create “little libraries” that promote literacy and the sharing economy values with the “take-a-book, leave-a-book” mentality. Knowing that libraries are one of the founding members of the share economy, we were thrilled to partner with the SF Public Library for this project. Airbnb supplied the materials and our team of volunteers built 33 little libraries from start to finish, each of which will soon be given permanent homes throughout the city to continue the sharing.
A few miles away, over 100 employees and hosts teamed up with the Tenderloin Housing Clinic (THC) at the Seneca Hotel and Raman Hotel to paint walls, add art and plants, build furniture and transform the facilities into places of community and belonging for their residents. THC operates the City’s largest permanent housing program for single homeless adults with the Seneca Hotel providing 204 units of permanent housing. We are thrilled to partner together and to continue to support a great organization that enables belonging to some of the most vulnerable residents of San Francisco.
