At Airbnb, our mission is to create a world where you can belong anywhere. Our community has proven countless times that this mission extends beyond travel, that together we can help lift up our most vulnerable neighbors around the world. Whether it’s a host in Idaho offering reduced rates to families traveling to medical centers, or thousands of hosts in New York opening up their homes to victims of Hurricane Sandy, our community has consistently shown incredible generosity and kindness during times of need.
To build on these efforts, we’re excited to announce our new partnership with the San Francisco Firefighters Local 798 by sponsoring the Firefighter’s Annual Toy Drive. In addition to a $25,000 donation, we will be collecting items for families displaced by traumatic fires and other home damage. Collection bins will be located in our office at 888 Brannan Street and at the Just for Fun toy store in Noe Valley through the end of August.
By providing essential items, we can help displaced parents and their children feel more at home during difficult times. We will be collecting toys for kids of all ages, as well as all the basic essentials for families suffering through the loss of their home–items can include pajamas, sweats, flip-flops, basic toiletries, and anything else that’ll help to provide the comforts of home.
Our partnership with the San Francisco Firefighters builds on our existing community relationships across the city. We support disaster relief efforts through the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management, and we’re proud to work with organizations such as Larkin Street Youth Services, Sanctuary Shelter, the San Francisco Food Bank and other non-profit organizations here in our beautiful home city.
