Airbnb hosts in the City of Los Angeles have been welcoming guests into their homes since late 2008. Over the past six years, Los Angeles residents have formed a vibrant Airbnb community, sharing unique experiences with travelers from around the world.

The following report examines the impacts of Airbnb and its community in Los Angeles. Economic, social, and environmental impacts have all been evaluated to understand how Airbnb fits into the city. The analysis is based on all travel to Los Angles during the year-period from May 2013 to April 2014.


Airbnb’s Host Community

Between May 2013 and April 2014, 4,490 Los Angeles hosts welcomed guests into their homes. These hosts reflect the diverse community of Los Angeles.


Airbnb’s Guest Community

In the previous year, 135,000 guests traveled to Los Angeles with Airbnb. The number of guests using Airbnb has grown steadily since 2009, with visitation more than doubling between 2012 and 2013.
