Airbnb hosts in Madrid have been welcoming guests into their homes since 2009. Over the past five years, Madrid residents have formed a vibrant Airbnb community, sharing unique experiences with travelers from around the world.
The following report examines the impacts of Airbnb’s community in Madrid . Economic, social, and environmental impacts have all been evaluated to understand how Airbnb fits into
the city. The analysis is based on all travel to Madrid during the year-period from January 2014 through December 2014.
Airbnb’s Host Community
Between January 2014 and the end of December 2014, 3,200 Madrid hosts welcomed guests into their homes.
The average host is 48 years old, with 37 percent of hosts working in creative industries and the public sector.
Airbnb’s Guest Community
Since 2009, more than 256,600 guests have traveled to Madrid using the Airbnb platform. The number of guests using the Airbnb platform has grown steadily since 2009.
