Dear Host Community,
It’s been a challenging few months. As the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we’ve witnessed the declaration of a pandemic, government restrictions on travel and gatherings, and growing concern from guests and hosts about their health and safety.
We say that the well-being of our community is our priority, and we must take action to support this belief. That’s why we’ve made the difficult decision to pause all Airbnb Experiences starting March 18 through at least April 3rd, 2020. All reservations during this time have been canceled. Visit the Help Center for more details.
At their core, Airbnb Experiences are about human connection. That’s why it’s become so hard to deliver experiences in a way that’s sensitive to both the needs of hosts and guests, as well as to the communities in which we live. We believe that taking this action in the short-term is necessary to do our part to slow the spread of the virus, and in the long-term preserve experiences as a trusted way to connect with the world.
Please know, we are in this together. The team and I are actively working on ways to support you through this troubling time. We want to help you be more prepared than ever when it’s all over.
In the next two weeks, you can expect listening sessions in every market where we’ll clarify these updates and answer your questions. There will also be an opportunity to brainstorm ideas, including ways to connect with your guests online. And we’re going to host interactive and educational workshops, too. We’ll take everything we hear from you and come back with an action plan. We know this is a hit to your business, and we’re working on ways to help you recover once we’re back up and running.
We remain, as ever, committed to our partnership with our community. Our thoughts are with you and your families as you navigate these challenging times. I will be back in touch very soon as we have more to share.
With warm wishes,
Head of Experiences
