We came, we swapped, we conquered, and then had a waffle or two. The First Annual AirShare brought together the spirit of sharing, recycling, and making with the SF/Bay Area community. We asked for forgotten treasures– and treasures we received, from a redwood custom dartboard to a rustic farm table to a coveted fabulous disco ball, the swap became a second-hand haven beyond our wildest hopes. From one home to another, the community came with unwanted items and left with prized possessions.

Amongst the swapping buzz and treasure hunting, there were DIY workshops to help find your inner handyman. Be Scrappy, an online marketplace for power tool rentals led a workshop making charming jewelry stands made from manzanita branches and oak stumps. Another table had a workshop creating nifty wallets made from cardboard led by local artist, Kathryn Kenworth. A special presentation by another local artist, Tuan Tran showcased his whimsical fashion pieces made from recycled telephone wire throughout the event.

Attendees were also treated to free belgium waffles, coffee, and other goodies to replenish from all the swapping and building. Live music by local musicians, Arjun and Jahanzeb and local band, Fawned provided the playful tunes for all the fun and festivities.

Task Rabbit also lent a helping hand to anyone that needed help picking up and dropping off items to the swap, and rounded up all the remaining items at the end of the event to deliver to the local Goodwill and Salvation Army.
