At Airbnb Open, the community’s largest gathering ever, more than 10,000 hosts, guests, Airbnb team members, and locals came together in LA to celebrate hospitality and reimagine the future of travel.
On Nov 18th, Airbnb Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Nate Blecharczyk and Director of Product Donna Boyer introduced the latest host tools at Downtown LA’s Orpheum Theatre.
Airbnb hosts like you have set a new standard for travel: today’s guests look forward to hospitality that’s bold, authentic, and sensitive to their needs. To help you host when you’re on-the-go, our newest features make it easier to work with others and manage your listing from anywhere.
Co-hosting features: We know that many hosts share hosting responsibilities with family members or friends. To help you work with others, you can add co-hosts to your listing, and they can help you manage your reservations from their own account. Guests will see that you and your co-host are managing your space together, so you’ll both be able to reply to incoming messages. We’re also introducing a set of features that make it easy to track and split your earnings with your co-host.
In select cities, hosts are also able to help friends and family share their space by managing it on their behalf. We’re starting this program in a few locations to learn about what works best, and we’ll continue to expand it over time. In the future, you’ll be able to invite people to host their space with your help. You’ll also be able to expand your hospitality business by connecting with other hosts in your area who are looking for expertise or support.
Mobile app improvements: Because messaging is the number one thing you do with the app, we’ve updated the Airbnb app so your inbox is the first thing you see. We’ve added inbox search and archiving to help you can locate the information you need. We’ve also enabled photo messaging, so you can include maps, photos of lockbox locations, or other helpful images when you communicate with your guests.
Hosts tell us their guests frequently ask the same questions. To make it easy to send common replies, we’ve added message drafts to your mobile inbox. With message drafts, you can send responses with preset text and images. We’ve also added calendar features that help you add notes and review check-in and check-out dates at a glance.
We’re gradually rolling out these features, and we’ll be making them available to more of you in the weeks to come. To make these updates, we’ve worked with hosts from around the world to understand what changes matter most. We’ve used the feedback of thousands of hosts—gathered from surveys, focus groups, and user testing—to build an entirely updated app, together.
Dashboard & stats updates: To help you make informed decisions and get the most out of your listing, we’ve improved your dashboard and stats page. This update gives you access to new details about your reviews, so you can understand what guests love about your listing and learn more about travelers’ expectations. We’ve also added a new summary page to help you keep track of your listing’s earnings, views, and ratings at a glance.
Community Center improvements: We want to help you connect to the host community for support, advice, and encouragement. With that in mind, we’ve added direct messaging to the Community Center to help you keep the conversation going with hosts from all around the world. And to ensure that we hear from your feedback throughout the year, we’ve updated the Host Voice tool, which you can use to share ideas with Airbnb and suggest new features or updates.
