We’re excited to invite you to Los Angeles for the latest edition of Airbnb Open! We’re expanding the scope of this annual host gathering to be a festival experience where you’ll see, hear, and taste the best of LA.
At Airbnb Open LA, we’ll unveil new and exciting developments for the Airbnb community. The event will honor the effort you devote to your guests with celebrations inspired by your creativity.
Hosts in Los Angeles take pride in unlocking the city’s secrets for their guests. At first glance, LA can seem like an imposing destination. It contains hundreds of neighborhoods connected by more than 500 miles of freeways. There’s so much to choose from that it can be hard for travelers to decide where to begin.
The city’s richness is found within its great neighborhoods. Each section of the city presents its own distinct and potent flavors. This diversity of culture is reflected in its variety of impressive restaurants, dazzling art galleries and historic performance venues.
We’re especially excited about Downtown LA, the neighborhood we’ll call home during Airbnb Open. Over the past several years, a rapid influx of new residents has revitalized the area. Writing for the New York Times, local author David Ulin recently described LA as “a city reconstituting itself,” pointing to Downtown’s boom as an example. Popular bars, restaurants, galleries and theaters have sprung up around neighborhood landmarks like Grand Park, the Bradbury Building, and the Central Library.
Downtown’s leaders and residents helped foster this boom by conserving and adapting the area’s historic architecture. As a result, Downtown has emerged as a west coast cultural hub. The Broad, a world-class museum of contemporary art, opened its doors last year to rave reviews. The neighborhood’s famed Grand Central Market has become an all-time great destination for food-lovers. The Last Bookstore, which began in a Downtown loft, is one of the world’s most celebrated independent bookshops.
Downtown illustrates Los Angeles’ tradition of reinvention. It’s the perfect place for us to come together to reimagine the future of hospitality.
Beyond Downtown, LA is making headway on another reinvention. In May, a rail extension opened connecting LA neighborhoods to the beach for the first time in more than 60 years. By addressing its gridlock issues with new trains, bus services, and bike lanes, residents have more transportation options than ever. In response, they’re choosing to walk, ride trains, and bicycle in ever greater numbers.
Los Angeles presents inexhaustible possibilities for visitors. You might choose to head to Chatsworth to ride horses across scenic trails overlooking the San Fernando Valley. Or ride the Gold Line to gaze at Native American artifacts in Mt. Washington’s Southwest Museum. Or you might travel to South LA to experience historic Watts Towers, a cultural monument of concrete, tile, glass, and wire wrought from 33 years of effort by a single artist. As an ambassador of authentic hospitality, you won’t want to miss LA’s incredible array of authentic local experiences.
We can’t wait to see you this November at Airbnb Open LA!
